Dear Colleague, As part of its mission to provide professional development opportunities for members of the TRiO and educational opportunity community in New England, the New England Educational Opportunity Association (NEOA) began offering a year-long Leadership Institute in 1998-99. We are coming up on the eleventh year of the Institute. Next year’s Leadership Institute will accept people with varying years of experience in TRiO/EOP’s: mid-career professionals who have been with TRiO/EOP’s for a number of years and are looking for a reinvigorating professional development experience and emerging leaders who may be newer to our programs but have demonstrated their motivation and commitment through work within their state. In their applications, these individuals should indicate why they feel they are ready for a stimulating year of inquiry, rejuvenation and skill building. In addition, the selection committee recognizes that there are emerging leaders who have indicated their energy and commitment through work with their programs and maybe with their state associations. The selection committee will select a maximum of 15 participants. The combination of experienced and emerging professionals will provide an exciting and challenging year-long Institute. The Leadership Institute will convene three times over the next year and will provide participants the opportunity to develop greater expertise and skill as leaders in the field and to enhance their ability to expand educational opportunities for the students with whom they work. The aim of the Institute is to provide participants and the programs they serve with a strong and effective core of leadership theory and skills. Enclosed are the three documents to submit when applying: an application, a personal statement, and a professional reference. These forms are also on the NEOA website. Please feel free to copy these materials and share them with colleagues. The fee for the Institute is $1,000 per person and is an allowable cost for TRiO and GEAR UP programs. The application deadline is Monday, May 31, 2010. All materials must be received by this date. Refund Policy: Full refund with 60-days notification of withdrawal before the first session. Then 50% refund with 30 days notification; anything less than that would either be no refund or would be up to the discretion of the LI Director and NEOA Executive Board. This allows exceptions for those with serious extenuating circumstances who may want to apply again in a subsequent year and who might be offered a partial refund. Please contact me with any questions about the Leadership Institute or the application process. Sincerely, Sigh Searles LI Application 2010-2011 - PDF format LI Brochure (PDF) |
