NEOA Presents “Realizing the College Dream”

A One Day Training Session on

Monday, NOVEMBER 5th, 2007 (8am to 4pm)

The New England Educational Opportunity Association (NEOA) invites all ETS/UB/EOC/GearUp pre-college program staff to join with your colleagues throughout New England for a day of professional development training.

“Realizing the College Dream” will be presented by a team of experienced trainers (many are National TRIO trainers) from the ECMC Foundation. Each participant will receive a complete Curriculum Guide that supports counselors in our work to increase the expectations of attending college by low-income and first-generation college students and their families. The workshop areas and related curriculum will cover:

• Thinking of Yourself as a College-Bound Student
• Debunking the Myth that You Can’t Afford College
• Getting Involved and Staying Involved (for families of our participants)

To do this program in one day requires that we allow a full 8 hours. You may wish to come to Durham, NH, on Sunday, November 4th, and stay overnight in order to participate. We have secured a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express, 2 Main Street, Durham, NH, at the rate of $99.95 single or double occupancy, plus tax, which includes continental breakfast and parking. You will need to make your own hotel reservations before October 4th by calling 603-868-1234 (reference the “Educational Talent Search Rate”).

Please complete the registration form and return it by October 19th. Plan to arrive on Monday, November 5th by 8:00am for registration, coffee and snacks. Parking is at a premium so please carpool if at all possible. Lunch is provided. Activities will run until 4:00pm. Alumni Center directions and parking information can be found at

The New England Educational Opportunity Association (NEOA) provides financial support for Professional Development Days thus NEOA members may attend at no cost. People who are not NEOA members may attend by paying a $50 registration fee. Please enclose a check payable to “NEOA” with the form below.
